Judges needed to get involved for Kamaru Usman vs. Colby Covington 2, but the belt remained around Usman’s waist in the headliner of UFC 268.
Usman took home scores of 48-47 twice and 49-46 by outstriking Covington early and holding on as the former interim champ wobbled him in the fourth round. It was Usman’s fifth title defense.
In the co-headliner of Saturday’s fight card at Madison Square Garden, champ Rose Namajunas picked up her second win over Zhang Weili to overcome her second major challenge in the strawweight division.
