MMA stars continue to run roughshod on the All Elite Wrestling roster and now a heavyweight great is stepping into the ring.

It was announced that former UFC champion Junior dos Santos will make his professional wrestling debut in a six-man tag team match on AEW Dynamite next week in Miami, with the episode airing on a Saturday as opposed to in its usual Wednesday slot. He will be joined by “BMF” champion Jorge Masvidal in his corner.

The announcement came during a segment on last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite when American Top Team coach Dan Lambert once again made his team’s presence felt following a TNT title match between pro wrestlers Sammy Guevara and Bobby Fish.

Lambert has been involved in an ongoing on-screen feud with AEW’s wrestlers. On Wednesday, Lambert’s squad—which also included fighters Paige VanZant, Austin Vanderford, and Dalton Rosta—ambushed Guevara and dos Santos became physical with the TNT champion. “Cigano” mounted Guevara and battered him with some worked ground-and-pound before Guevara’s allies known as “The Inner Circle” ran in for the save.

Afterwards, Lambert exchanged words with pro wrestling legend Chris Jericho and a match was set up for next Saturday’s show that will feature dos Santos teaming up with Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page to face Jericho, Guevara, and current Bellator heavyweight Jake Hager.

Later, VanZant took to social media to add insult to injury:

Masvidal’s involvement is no surprise given that he was also involved in a recent segment on AEW Rampage where he reenacted his infamous five-second running knee knockout of Ben Askren with Jericho in Askren’s place.
