Jon Jones roasts Jan Blachowicz after UFC 267: ‘See what happens when you’re talking sh*t’

Count former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones among those happy to see Glover Teixeira beat Jan Blachowicz at UFC 267.

Jones praised his former opponent and dissed his would-be foe — just 20 months ago, he waved on Blachowicz with open arms after the Polish standout upset Corey Anderson — in his immediate reaction to Saturday’s fight.

It wasn’t immediately clear what Jones was so salty about, but Blachowicz was one of the many fighters who looked ruefully at the ex-champion’s latest brush with the law, a domestic battery arrest in Las Vegas. Blachowicz also urged fans and pundits to move on from Jones, who hasn’t fought since a Febuary 2020 defense of the light heavyweight title.

For a moment in 2020, it looked as though Blachowicz would be Jones’ next opponent, but a potential superfight with heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou was the catalyst for a falling out between “Bones” and the UFC. Jones later relinquished his light heavyweight title in anticipation of a heavyweight title shot, only to stay on the sidelines as Ngannou himself grappled with the promotion and was then passed up for an interim heavyweight title bout between Ciryl Gane and Derrick Lewis. After beating Lewis, Gane set up a title unifier that’s expected for UFC 270.

Jones faced Teixeira in 2014 at UFC 172 and dominated the Brazilian vet. But like just about everyone who saw Teixeira’s comeback at UFC 267, he was blown away by what he saw.

And with a new champ in his old division, Jones indicated he would continue to focus on the big-man division with his rival deposed.
