UFC 267 live blog: Magomed Ankalaev vs. Volkan Oezdemir

This is the UFC 267 live blog for Magomed Ankalaev vs. Volkan Oezdemir, a light heavyweight main card bout on Saturday’s fight card at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.

Ankalaev is the No. 12 ranked light heavyweight in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings, and arrives at UFC 267 on the strength of a six-fight winning streak, two bouts of which came against Ion Cutelaba after their controversial first bout. Most recently, the Russian fighter outpointed Nikita Krylov, and aside from a momentary lapse that cost him a submission loss one second before the end of his fight with Paul Craig, he is unblemished in the cage.

Oezdemir, ranked No. 13, comes to the bout on the B-Side after climbing the light heavyweight mountain in quick time only to fall quickly after a lopsided loss to Daniel Cormier. Most recently, the Swiss fighter was knocked out by current title contender Jiri Prochazka, which deflated the momentum he built with back-to-back wins in bouts against Ilir Latifi and Aleksandar Rakic.
