DEEP featherweight champion Juntaro Ushiku has added more gold to his collection.
“Fighting Bull” took on RIZIN’s 145-pound titleholder Yutaka Saito in the main event of RIZIN 31, which went down Sunday morning in Yokohama, Japan, and took away the belt after landing a big knee to the face of Saito, opening a cut that forced the doctors to call it in the second round.
In the co-main event, RIZIN atomweight grand prix winner Kanna Asakura dropped the second in a row with a split decision against DEEP Jewels queen Saori Oshima.
The card features a variety os spectacular finishes, including sumo specialist Tsuyoshi Sudario sleeping Radlein Saint Ilme with a left hook in under two minutes to boost his MMA record to 4-1, and longtime veteran Masanori Kanehara adding another finish to his record with a second-round stoppage over Takahiro Ashida.
Daisuke Nakamura once again displayed his submissions skills in a featherweight clash with Suguru Nii, tapping him with an armbar in a little over two minutes. Also in the featherweight division, Rikuto Shirakawa took advantage of RIZIN’s ruleset to floor Takuya Yamamoto with a soccer kick in the first round.
