Former flyweight title contenders Jennifer Maia and Katlyn Chookagian have agreed to meet in a rematch at the upcoming UFC event scheduled on Jan. 15.

Multiple sources confirmed the news to MMA Fighting on Tuesday with bout agreements for the matchup already issued. MMA Ideas initially reported the pairing on Instagram.

Maia will return to action looking to build on her most recent win over Jessica Eye, which put her back on track following a loss to reigning flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko. Since joining the UFC roster, Maia has amassed a 4-3 record overall with one of those losses coming to Chookagian back in 2019.

On that night, Chookagian earned a unanimous decision victory over the Brazilian. Now Maia will seek revenge in the rematch in January.

As for Chookagian, the New Jersey based flyweight has picked up wins in her last two UFC appearances with decisions over Cynthia Calvillo and Viviane Araujo. Overall, Chookagian is 5-2 in her past seven fights with her only losses coming to Shevchenko and former title contender Jessica Andrade.

Maia and Chookagian will now clash for the second time as part of the first UFC card scheduled in 2022, with a location for the event still to be determined.
