UFC Vegas 40 video: Bruno Silva earns black belt with comeback knockout win after multiple low blows

Bruno Silva improved to 2-0 inside the octagon and earned his jiu-jitsu black belt to put the cherry on top.

Silva battled back from a possible two-round deficit to Andrew Sanchez—and a trio of unfortunate fouls—in the featured preliminary bout of Saturday’s UFC Vegas 40 event with a third-round knockout win.

Check out the video of the finish above.

Silva came out swinging in the opening round, landing a barrage of shots on Sanchez, who was able to survive before taking the fight to the ground. Silva got back to his feet before getting taken down again, this time landing big elbows off of his back. When the action returned to the feet once more, Sanchez landed a pair of fight-pausing low blows before the first round ended.

Sanchez continued his wrestling heavy strategy in the second and looked to be up two rounds. After an early exchange in the third, Sanchez landed a third low blow and referee Keith Peterson lived up to his “No Nonsense” moniker and took a point away. When the action resumed, Silva made it clear he was not going to be happy with a draw as he punished a seemingly deflated Sanchez with a flurry of punches to get the win.

With the finish, Silva has now won six straight, while Sanchez has lost two straight and is 1-3 over his last four.
