UFC Vegas 40 video: Nate Landwehr taps out Ludovit Klein with nasty third-round anaconda choke

Nate Landwehr is best known for his heavy hands but at UFC Vegas 40, he showed that he’s got plenty of ground skills to match his relentless assault on the feet.

In a punishing performance, Landwehr was constantly on the attack going after opponent Ludovit Klein but it was actually a late takedown attempt that allowed the Tennessee native to wrap up an anaconda choke to get the submission finish.

The end came at 2:22 in the third round as Landwehr gets back in the win column to even his UFC record at 2-2 overall.

“I think I still got a job after that!” Landwehr said afterwards. “I still got power in these hands. I just wanted to show y’all I could do it. Ain’t a man alive that can out push me. This is just the beginning. I’ll take the submission bonus.”

When the fight started, Klein was trying to showcase better technique by throwing a series of kicks and straight punches in order to deal with the brawling style coming back from Landwehr. While he was wary of the strikes coming from Klein on the outside, Landwehr showed no fear closing the distance and launching heavy punches and knees whenever he created an opening.

Almost every time Klein managed to connect with a well-timed combination, Landwehr was quick to fire back with a barrage of strikes that were landing with better power. Landwehr’s ability to drag Klein into the phone booth where he just started to unload shots in succession were really giving the Slovakian fighter headaches.

Landwehr thrived whenever he made it an ugly fight as he pushed forward with powerful punches and knees, which then forced Klein to react and that’s actually what led to the finish.

After getting tagged with some hard shots, Klein scrambled for a takedown but he left his neck open and that allowed Landwehr to lock up the anaconda choke with the tap coming just a few seconds later.

Known for his exciting style, Landwehr always like to deliver a memorable performance and he certainly added another highlight to his resume with the win over Klein on Saturday night.
