It wasn’t enough for Superbon to claim ONE Championship gold. He had to do it by taking out one of the world’s best kickboxers in spectacular fashion.
Superbon became ONE’s inaugural 145-pound kickboxing championship Friday at ONE Championship: First Strike in Kallang, Singapore, on Friday, nailing a sniper head kick on Giorgio Petrosyan in the second round for a clean knockout victory.
Watch the unbelievable finish above.
Petrosyan and Superbon were both riding lengthy unbeaten streaks heading into Friday’s contest, with Petrosyan unbeaten in nine straight bouts (which also included appearances for Bellator Kickboxing and GLORY) and Superbon having defeated his past six opponents. Faced with ONE’s No. 1-ranked fighter, Superbon claimed Petrosyan’s spot and declared himself as the man to beat in the 155-pound division by flattening Petrosyan with a perfectly timed strike.
Superbon is now just one of two fighters to have finished Petrosyan via strikes, the other being Andy Ristie at a GLORY event in New York back in November 2013.
