Lupita Godinez has a chance to make history in the UFC.

Godinez, who submitted Silvana Gomez Juarez this past weekend in Las Vegas, has agreed to replace Sijara Eubanks against Luana Carolina at Saturday night’s UFC Vegas 40, aiming for a seven-day turnaround in the octagon.

Multiple people close to the situation confirmed the switch to MMA Fighting following a report from ESPN Deportes.

Godinez (6-1), a former LFA strawweight champion, is 1-1 under the UFC banner so far. She’s facing Carolina in a flyweight bout since it’s on such short notice, and in doing so will break Khamzat Chimaev’s record for the quickest 2-0 turnaround in modern UFC history if victorious at the UFC APEX.

Carolina (7-2) was originally scheduled to face Maryna Moroz and then Eubanks on the Oct. 16 card before agreeing to face Godinez. The Brazilian fighter is coming off a split decision victory over Poliana Botelho in May.

UFC Vegas 40 will air live on ESPN+ and feature Norma Dumont vs. Aspen Ladd in a five-round featherweight headliner.
