It may be loser leaves town as Sam Alvey and Ian Heinisch face off at a Feb. 5 UFC event.

The veteran middleweights, who’ve both struggled to pick up a win in their recent octagon careers, are scheduled to fight, multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting.

The Feb. 5 UFC event’s headliner, location and venue have yet to be confirmed.

Alvey, 35, hasn’t picked up a win since a split call over Gian Villante in 2018. The red-haired vet has since gone 0-6-1 in the octagon, most recently losing a split decision against Wellington Turman at UFC Vegas 35.

Asked about Alvey’s place in the roster after the Turman loss, UFC President Dana White indicated the fighter would get another chance. Alvey has been an outspoken advocate for the promotion and argued against fighters unionizing.

Heinisch, meanwhile, has gone 1-4 in his previous five outings, most recently suffering a TKO loss against Nassourdine Imavov at UFC Vegas 32.
