MMA Fighting confirmed with sources with knowledge of the matchup that Till (18-3-1) and Vettori (16-3-1) have verbally agreed to headline an April 10 UFC event. The news was first reported by ESPN.
Both fighters are coming off of bouts against top-10 contenders, with Till having dropped a unanimous decision to Robert Whittaker in July, and Vettori having stepped in as a short-notice replacement for Kevin Holland this past December to defeat Jack Hermansson in the main event of UFC Vegas 16.
Vettori has won four straight fights, while Till has lost three of his past four. At middleweight, Till is 1-1 with the loss to Whittaker and a win over Kelvin Gastelum in his 185-pound debut in November 2019.
The fight is scheduled to take place one week before a reported main event between Whittaker and Paulo Costa. With current UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya expected to challenge Jan Blachowicz for the light heavyweight championship at UFC 259 on March 6, Till vs. Vettori and Whittaker vs. Costa will likely determine the No. 1 contender at 185 pounds or set the stage for an interim title bout.
