Vinicius Moreira will enter the octagon at Wednesday’s UFC Fight Island 8 despite a violation of the UFC antidoping program, the United States Anti-Doping Agency announced Friday.
Moreira, who meets Ike Villanueva on the main card of UFC’s Fight Night show on Jan. 20, tested positive for hormone anastrozole during an out-of-competition test done on Sept. 25, 2020.
USADA announced that a supplement container provided by Moreira included anastrozole, even though the label didn’t disclose the substance. Moreira won’t face a suspension or a fine for the violation, only a public warning.
Moreira (9-4) went 0-3 under the UFC banner in 2019, losing by stoppage to Alonzo Menifield, Eryk Anders and Paul Craig. Villanueva (16-11) also looks for his first UFC victory following back-to-back defeats to Chase Sherman and Jordan Wright.
UFC Fight Island 8 will be headlined by welterweight veterans Michael Chiesa and Neil Magny at Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Arena.
