RIZIN lightweight Daron Cruickshank signed a one-fight deal with Brazilian-based Taura MMA to compete at the upcoming event in Kissimmee, Fla., on Oct. 30, sources told MMA Fighting.
UFC veteran Kyle Bochniak inked a three-bout contract with the company and will debut on the same card.
Cruickshank is still under contract with the Japanese promotion, but is unable to enter the country due to travel restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Taura MMA has yet to announce an opponent for both fighters.
Bochniak (8-5) put on one of the best fights of the year in 2018, when he went the distance with Russian prospect Zabit Magomedsharipov in the UFC. The 33-year-old featherweight parted ways with the promotion after losing three straight.
Cruickshank (22-13, 1 no contest) joined RIZIN after leaving the UFC in 2016, going on to win five of nine in the Japanese ring. “Detroit Superstar” last fought in Dec. 2019, losing to Goiti Yamaguchi in the Bellator cage.
Taura MMA recently announced the signing of UFC veteran Danny Martinez, Bellator’s Leo Leite, TUF Brazil winner Reginaldo Vieira, plus Gleristone Santos, Carlos Huachin, Herbeth Souza, Nayib Lopez, Adriano Martins, Luiz Dutra, and Ednaldo Oliveira.
