The UFC plans on keeping Claudia Gadelha vs. Yan Xiaonan on despite Gadelha’s knee injury, moving the strawweight bout from Sept. 26 to Nov. 7, people with knowledge of the booking told MMA Fighting following a report from Combate.
Gadelha suffered a left knee injury and left New Jersey to Las Vegas to rehab at the UFC Performance Institute. Contracts are yet to be signed, sources said.
Yan (12-1, 1 NC) is coming off the biggest wins of her MMA career, a pair of decisions over longtime UFC veterans Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Angela Hill. The Chinese contender hasn’t lost in her last 11 fights, which includes five octagon appearances.
Gadelha (18-4) is a former 115-pound title contender in the UFC who defeated Hill and Randa Markos in her last bouts to bounce back from a loss to Nina Ansaroff in December 2018. “Claudinha’s” overall octagon record stands at 7-4.
The UFC has yet to officially announce the location for the Fight Night show and its headlining attraction.
