UFC Vegas 6 video: Beneil Dariush finishes Scott Holtzman with highlight-reel spinning backfist knockout

Beneil Dariush is building quite a highlight reel for himself in recent fights.

To earn his fourth straight finish, the 31-year-old lightweight capped off his UFC Vegas 6 fight against Scott Holtzman with a jaw dropping spinning back fist that brought an end to the contest at 4:38 in the opening round.

As much as he appreciated his handiwork, Dariush was mostly apologetic after missing weight on Friday and he hoped if the UFC rewarded him for that performance, that it would go to his opponent.

“I gotta say even though I won, I’m super embarrassed how it went yesterday,” Dariush said. “I missed weight. Dana [White], if you’re listening and that was performance worthy, give it to Scott. That’s the right thing to do.”

Prior to the knockout, an early pair of accidental eye pokes brought out some emotion in Dariush, who came out firing following the second foul as he looked to build the momentum in his favor. Following some clinch work against the cage, Dariush uncorked a huge knee strike that wobbled Holtzman and put him on shaky ground as he shifted into survival mode.

Dariush was going for the kill with every shot thrown after connecting with the knee but Holtzman managed to show off his durability while absorbing a lot of punishment.

In response, Holtzman continued to throw bombs at Dariush but he just wasn’t able to stay on target. Unfortunately his offensive output left him open for the fight-ending strike after Dariush countered with the spinning back fist that blasted Holtzman and sent him crashing to the canvas.

The fight was quickly stopped before Dariush could dish out anymore damage.

Despite the weight miss, Dariush has now won five fights in a row including four victories by knockout or submission and he certainly appears ready for a ranked opponent when he makes his return to action.
