UFC Vegas 6 weigh-in results: Beneil Dariush, Laureano Staropoli miss weight

Two fighters came in heavy at Friday’s official weigh-ins for UFC Vegas 6.

Lightweight veteran Beneil Dariush weighed in at 158 pounds for his lightweight bout opposite Scott Holtzman scheduled for Saturday’s UFC card at UFC APEX in Las Vegas, two pounds over the lightweight limit (including a one-pound allowance). And in a rare occurrence, welterweight fighters Tim Means and Laureano Staropoli both failed to make weight for their scheduled 170-pound bout, with Means tipping the scales at 172.5 pounds and Staropoli at 174.5.

However, Means was given additional time to cut weight and he successfully did so on his second attempt, coming in at 171 pounds.

Per the UFC, Dariush will forfeit 20 percent of his purse to Holtzman and the bout will proceed at a 158-pound catchweight. Staropoli will also forfeit 20 percent of his purse to means and that bout will proceed at a 174.5-pound catchweight.

This is the first weight miss in the UFC for Dariush and Staropoli.

In more positive news for the UFC, the headliners and co-headliners all successfully made weight. Derrick Lewis and Aleksei Oleinik weighed in at 265 pounds and 227 pounds respectively for Saturday’s main event, while Chris Weidman successfully hit the middleweight mark after a one-fight stint at light heavyweight. Weidman fights Omari Akhmedov in Saturday’s co-main event.
