Renato Moicano’s lightweight journey continues when he draws Magomed Mustafaev at a yet-to-be-announced UFC Fight Night card on Oct. 17, sources told MMA Fighting following a report from Combate.

Moicano (14-3-1) made the jump to 155 pounds after years as a featherweight and stopped Damir Hadzovic in just 44 seconds at UFC Brasilia in March, his first victory since a first-round submission over Cub Swanson in 2018.

The American Top Team fighter lost to Jose Aldo and “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung in 2019 before deciding to change things up and move up to lightweight.

Mustafaev (14-4) has won three of five since joining the UFC in 2015, including a first-round knockout victory over Rafael Fiziev in April 2019. The Russian lightweight, whose first UFC setback came against Kevin Lee, is looking to get back on track after a split decision defeat to Brad Riddell in February.

The UFC Fight Night card will be headlined by a highly anticipated featherweight showdown between Brian Ortega and “The Korean Zombie.”
