Gerald Meerschaert and Ed Herman will attempt to give it a go once again.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that Meerschaert and Herman have agreed to meet at the UFC’s event on Sept. 12. The card is expected to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas.
The pairing was originally scheduled to take place earlier his month at UFC Vegas 5 but Meerschaert was forced to withdraw hours before the event began after testing positive for COVID-19.
“GM 3” looks to bounce back from a first-round TKO loss to Ian Heinisch at UFC 250 in May. Prior to that, Meerschaert had won two of three, including a pair of submission wins over Trevin Giles and Deron Winn. This will be the 32-year-old’s 11th UFC appearance.
Herman has the chance to pick up his third consecutive victory—something he hasn’t experienced since 2012. “Short Fuse,” a finalist on season 3 of The Ultimate Fighter, recently picked up a first-round TKO of Patrick Cummins, and a unanimous decision victory over Khadis Ibragimov in November.
The UFC’s Sept. 12 event will be headlined by a key light heavyweight matchup between Thiago Santos and Glover Teixeira.
