All five winners at DWCS Season 4: Week 2 walked away with UFC contracts in Las Vegas.
Stoltzfus and Pyfer, two middleweight finishers, showed a lot of respect for each other’s power to kick off the main event, and things began to heat up later in the round. Both guys began the fight with more of a feeling out process. Pyfer landed some heavy leg kicks that got the attention of Stoltzfus, who returned fire.
Pyfer was beginning to snipe his opponent with punches and Stoltzfus continued to score with hard leg kicks. The Philadelphia native beautifully timed a takedown with around two minutes left in the opening round and Stoltzfus was working for a triangle attempt off of his back. Pyfer landed a couple of hard punches and Stoltzfus went for a leg lock.
As both guys got back to their feet, Stoltzfus hoisted Pyzer up in the air and attempted a slam. Pyzer, unfortunately, tried to brace the fall with his right arm and suffered a dislocated elbow causing the fight to be waved off, awarding Stoltzfus with a first-round TKO.
In the co-headliner, Adrian Yanez picked up the fifth-fastest finish in Contender Series history as he put Brady Huang away in just 39-seconds via TKO.
Laramie, a Canadian prospect, picked up the card’s first finish of the night as he overcame some tough spots on the ground to deliver ferocious ground-and-pound to Daniel Swain until the horn sounded. Swain was unable to continue after suffering an apparent rib injury, which forced the cageside doctor to stop it before the second round.
Kasanganay improved to 2-0 on the Contender Series with a unanimous decision win over Anthony Adams. In addition, White announced that Kasanganay has already accepted a fight for his octagon debut at the UFC’s Aug. 22 event.
