Vicente Luque always likes to put on a show and his latest win at UFC on Vegas 5 was no different.

The veteran welterweight was already ahead on the scorecards when he blasted Randy Brown with a massive knee strike in the closing seconds of the second round to earn a highlight reel knockout. The end came at 4:56 in round two.

“I finish fights,” Luque said about his latest knockout win. “When I see the opportunity, I go for it.

In order to deal with the taller, longer fighter, Luque immediately targeted Brown’s lead leg with a series of calf kicks that started paying dividends. As a result, Brown was forced to change stances as he sought to avoid more damage being inflicted from those kicks.

After chipping away at Brown’s foundation, Luque then came back over the top with a monstrous right hand that put the former “Lookin’ For a Fight” alum down on the ground. Luque didn’t get the finish but he definitely set the tone while showing off that kind of fight ending power.

As the fight continued, Luque continued to punish Brown’s leg with those kicks as the damage really started to add up. Brown went down to the mat after one kick and he was noticeably favoring his leg as Luque kept tagging him in almost every exchange.

With time ticking away as the second round was about to come to a close, Luque saw an opening as he pushed Brown’s head down in the clinch and he unleashed a perfectly timed knee that landed flush. Brown crumbled to the ground as the referee rushed into stop the fight.

The win moves Luque to 8-1 in his past nine fights and while he’ll never be mistaken for a prolific trash talker, he already had a name in mind when asked about what he wanted next.

“I would call out the guy right under me, that is Nate Diaz,” Luque said. “He only wants super fights but if we’re going to follow the rankings, I’m above him. I think that would be a great fight.”
