Anderson dos Santos tests positive for COVID-19, out of ‘Fight Island’ bout with Jack Shore

Anderson dos Santos has tested positive for coronavirus and will no longer fight Jack Shore in Abu Dhabi, sources told MMA Fighting.

Like every Brazilian-based fighter scheduled to compete at the UFC shows on July 11 and July 15, “Berinja” was quarantined at a hotel in Sao Paulo since Wednesday morning.

The bantamweight was tested upon arrival and got was informed of the positive test on Thursday night. Dos Santos’ coach Marcos “Babuino” also tested positive for COVID-19.

It’s still unclear if Shore will be given a new opponent for the event on July 15.

Dos Santos (20-8) was looking for his first octagon win after dropping decisions to and Nad Narimani and Andre Ewell. The UFC fighter attended a protest in Sao Paulo in late-April asking the government to allow gyms to open again despite the coronavirus outbreak.
