Four is the standard number for UFC post-fight bonuses. But the promotion was feeling generous for the final installment of the Fight Island series, UFC on ESPN 14, on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.
All of the fighters delivered impressive performances, of course. Perhaps most notably, Chimaev made history as the first to earn two UFC wins in 10 days, pounding out newcomer Rhys McKee in the first round after a second-round submission at UFC on ESPN 13 that also netted him an extra $50,000.
Elsewhere, Boser stopped Raphael Pessoa with a huge punch in the second round of their preliminary-card fight. Heavyweight newcomer Tom Aspinall needed just 45 seconds to stop Jake Collier. Ronson earned the first octagon victory of his career after three split call setbacks. Craig pulled yet another rabbit out of the hat with a first-round triangle choke of Gadzhimurad Antigulov, his fifth octagon win by submission. And ex-champ Werdum armbarred three-time light heavyweight title challenger Alexander Gustafsson to close out his UFC contract and potentially his octagon career.
