Alex Oliveira showcased his entire striking arsenal on the way to a lopsided decision win at UFC on ESPN 14.
Focusing early on the body and then battering Peter Sobotta to the head, Oliveira was in complete control from the first minute to the last as he notched his second straight win overall with all three judges giving him 30-27 scores for the victory.
Oliveira wasted no time targeting the midsection in his early exchanges with Sobotta as he started digging to the ribs with a series of front kicks. Even when Oliviera wasn’t connecting, Sobotta’s forearms were taking the brunt of the damage as he tried to slow down the Brazilian’s offense.
In an attempt to negate the kicks, Sobotta attempted a takedown in the second round but he ended up eating a series of brutal elbow strikes as Oliveira looked to stay on his feet. Blood began trickling down Sobotta’s head as the elbows paid dividends for Oliveira.
As the fight continued, Oliveira began finding a home for his punches as well including a stinging right hand that dropped Sobotta to the ground.
With five minutes remaining, Oliveira stayed on the attack as he popped Sobotta with a well-timed lead jab as well as a powerful right hand that came zooming at the German fighter several times.
As the fight came to an end, Oliveira was all smiles as he picked up his 21st win overall while Sobotta was left cleaning up the blood streaming down his head after suffering his second consecutive defeat in the UFC in his first fight back since 2018.
