Bellator 243 has a co-main event and the promotion also has three events officially lined up on the schedule.
A heavyweight bout between Matt Mitrione (13-7, 1 NC) and Timothy Johnson (13-6) was announced via press release Friday as the penultimate bout of Bellator’s upcoming Aug. 7 show, which will be headlined by a lightweight rematch between Michael Chandler and Ben Henderson.
Mitrione searches for his first win since February 2018. The 42-year-old is winless in his last three, losing by TKO to Sergei Kharitonov in a rematch after their first fight ended in a 15-second no contest due to Kharitonov suffering an accidental groin strike, and to Ryan Bader by unanimous decision at Bellator 207 in the semifinals of the Bellator Heavyweight World Grand Prix.
Johnson, 35, picked up his first Bellator win in his third outing for the organization. He defeated the previously unbeaten Tyrell Fortune by first-round knockout at Bellator 239 in February.
Curtis Millender and Sabah Homasi are also expected to meet in a welterweight contest at Bellator 243.
The promotion announced two more upcoming events, Bellator 244 on Aug. 21 and Bellator 245 on Sept. 11. All upcoming events are currently slated to take place at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.
