A welterweight matchup is headed to the Bellator cage next month.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that a bout between Curtis Millender and Sabah Homasi will take place at Bellator 243. The event is scheduled to take place Aug. 7 at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn.
After a 3-2 run competing in the UFC, Millender was released by the promotion and signed with Bellator this past November. “Curtious” competed for the promotion three times between 2015 and 2017, and returned with a unanimous decision win against Moses Murrietta at January’s Bellator 238 event. The 32-year-old enters the fight winning 10 of 12.
Homasi, who also competed for the UFC from 2016-2018, looks to stay on the winning track. After going 0-3 in his octagon tenure, “The Sleek Sheik” has won his last two bouts, including a 17-second knockout win over Micah Terrill in his most recent appearance at Bellator 225. The American Top Team 170-pounder was scheduled to face Paul Daley on two different cards, but injuries and the COVID-19 pandemic created other plans.
Bellator 243 will feature the highly anticipated lightweight rematch between former world champions Michael Chandler and Benson Henderson.
