Middleweights will collide for their chance to earn a UFC contract.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that a matchup between KB Bhullar and Bruno Oliveira is set for Dana White’s Contender Series on Sept. 1 following an initial report from Combate.
Bhullar is undefeated thus far in his eight-fight MMA career and is considered one of Canada’s top prospects. “The Bengal,” a middleweight champion for regional promotion Unified MMA, went 3-0 in 2019 with finishes of 25-plus fight veterans Derek Boyle and Cody Krahn. He also earned a unanimous decision win over Matt Dwyer to capture his first pro title.
Oliveira enters the bout on a three-fight winning streak, and he’s been victorious in eight of nine pro bouts. In his most recent appearance, the American Top Team standout finished Jared Gooden in less than a minute at Titan FC 55 in June 2019.
Also scheduled to take place on the Sept. 1 Contender Series event, as previously reported by MMA Fighting, is a light heavyweight matchup between UFC developmental contract winner William Knight and Cody Brundage.
