Ariane Lipski lived up to her nickname as “The Queen of Violence” with her latest win at UFC Fight Island 2.
While it wasn’t the knockout she wanted, Lipski wrapped up a nasty kneebar in the that had opponent Luana Carolina shrieking out in pain as the fight was stopped at 1:28 into the opening round.
“I feel great,” Lipski said with a smile on her face after notching her second UFC win. “I’ve been training since February so I was very, very prepared. I really wanted the KO but I was very confident in my jiu-jitsu.”
It was a long wait for Lipski to compete again after the coronavirus pandemic forced several schedule changes that kept pushing back her fight with Carolina. Once she finally set foot in the octagon, Lipski wasted no time starting the action as she came after Carolina aggressively in the first striking exchange.
After her opponent slipped to the ground, Lipski looked to land some strikes on the mat, but Carolina was quick to counter with a heel hook attempt. Carolina then looked for a calf-slicer from the bottom while potentially seeking to take Lipski’s back.
Instead, Lipski saw an opening to grab onto Carolina’s leg, and she immediately leaned back into the submission. A second later, Carolina was screaming in pain as her leg extended in the wrong direction as the referee quickly swooped into stop the fight.
Following two wins in a row, Lipski has now shown the potential that got her signed to the UFC in the first place as she seeks to continue her rise up the flyweight ranks.
