UFC on ESPN 13 medical suspensions: Diana Belbita faces six-month suspension after nasty armbar

UFC on ESPN 13 preliminary card fighter Diana Belbita grimaced in pain after getting armbarred by Liana Jojua, and now she may be out of action for six months.

According to medical suspensions issued by the UFC, which regulated Wednesday’s event in Abu Dhabi, Belbita needs an MRI of her right elbow to avoid an extended layoff. She was one of four fighters who received a potential 180-day term.

Flyweight co-headliner Ryan Benoit also faces a six-month medical suspension for his right thumb after UFC on ESPN 13. Benoit lost a unanimous decision to Tim Elliott in Wednesday’s co-headliner.

Headliners Calvin Kattar and Dan Ige went five rounds in the headliner, but escaped with relatively small suspensions. Ige is suspended for 45 days for bilateral lacerations, while Kattar got 30 days for a “hard bout.”

All fighters received a mandatory seven-day suspension from the UFC, which mirrors the Nevada State Athletic Commission’s guidelines when regulating events overseas.

Modestas Bukauskas: suspended 180 days or until cleared by MRI of left knee, 21 days no contact.
