This time, Deiveson Figueiredo will be fighting for a UFC title.
At Friday’s official weigh-ins for UFC Fight Island 2, Figueiredo hit the 125-pound mark on the dot to for Saturday’s main event rematch against Joseph Benavidez. Benavidez also successfully hit 125, meaning both fighters will be eligible to win the vacant UFC flyweight title.
Figueiredo missed weight for their first meeting in February, which was also to scheduled to be for a vacant title, making him ineligible to become the champion. He went on to defeat Benavidez by second-round TKO and the belt remained vacant.
All 24 fighters scheduled to compete Saturday successfully made weight, including middleweight co-headliners Kelvin Gastelum and Jack Hermansson.
