ONE Championship announces return to action following coronavirus pandemic

ONE Championship

ONE Championship is the latest fight promotion to get back to business after shutting down several shows due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong made the announcement via Facebook.

“ONE Championship is ready to set the world on fire again,” Sityodtong wrote. Catch these upcoming closed-door, audience-free shows on our global TV broadcast in 150+ countries around the world!

“Without the extraordinary grit and creativity of my team at ONE Championship, nothing would have been possible. The world is suffering through the worst crisis in 100 years. Most borders are still shut around the world as COVID-19 continues to ravage the global economy. Thank you to the greatest team in the world for everything!”

The first show back for ONE Championship will take place on July 31. The upcoming cards will take place behind closed doors without an audience in attendance.

Prior to the pandemic shutting down operations, ONE Championship had several marquee fight cards planned including the return of former UFC champions Demetrious Johnson and Eddie Alvarez. Johnson was scheduled to face reigning ONE flyweight champion Adriano Moraes before the pandemic forced the cancellation of their fight.

At this time, ONE Championship hasn’t announced any fights for the upcoming cards.
