Michael Bisping may be retired but the former middleweight champion is still down for a fight — even if that means a war of words on social media.

After a fiery back and forth with longtime featherweight contender Chad Mendes a few weeks back, Bisping found himself in the middle of an unexpected social media battle with Dan Henderson during the UFC 251 pay-per-view Saturday.

It all started when Henderson took to Twitter to fire an unprovoked shot at Bisping, who was handling color commentary duties during the event.

“Enjoying the fights as much as possible while having to listen to Bisping,” Henderson wrote. “Happy anniversary to the night I put you to bed.”

Henderson’s tweet came on July 11, the 11-year anniversary of his vicious knockout win over Bisping at UFC 100.

It didn’t take long for Bisping to see what was being said about him and he came back guns blazing at his former rival.

“Yeah on steroids mate,” Bisping said when referencing Henderson’s previous time spent on testosterone replacement therapy. “You cheating c**t. No honor, no surprise. Then I beat you with one eye. Get fu**ed sour b*tch.

“Never won the UFC belt. Don’t be sour you old wanker. Now disappear back to obscurity. Drinking again and reliving your old glory. All polite to my face and talk sh*t online. Didn’t have you down as a keyboard warrior.”

While Henderson wasn’t nearly as active in his responses, he did send Bisping one more message that got the UFC Hall of Famer even more fired up.

“Surprised you saw this, guess you’re not keeping your one eye on the fights as you’re supposed to be commentating,” Henderson said. “No wonder why your commentating is sh*t.”

While he’s usually quiet on social media, Henderson definitely decided to kick the hornet’s nest by not only insulting Bisping’s commentary but also referencing the damaged eye he suffered during his fighting career.

That earned Henderson a series of messages from Bisping, who exploded at his 49-year-old former foe.

“Says the guy that’s totally irrelevant,” Bisping said. “Go on insult my eye. So what. Shows what a true piece of sh*t you are. But you say hi when you see me. A real disgrace to the flag that you fly. Doesn’t surprise me. Total fake, should of known, steroid cheating c**t!

“Hey loser. Want me to lend you a few quid to keep your failing gym open? I make more in a month talking in my underwear what you do in a year. Washed up old c**t. Truth hurts doesn’t it. Lousy steroid taking c**t. Fu**ing true boomer. How’s being broke? Disappear after this like you have from everyone’s consciousness. I actually respected you, I gave you lots of props on my upcoming documentary. Regardless of your cheating I still thought you were a decent man. Looks like I was wrong.”

Bisping was never afraid of engaging in trash talk with his opponents during his fighting career and it seems like he’s still more than willing to do the same even in retirement.

Chances are battling over Twitter will be the only fight these two ever have again, but Bisping did manage to avenge his loss to Henderson in their rematch in 2016. It was the final fight of Henderson’s career.
