A battle of top-10 women’s flyweights looks to be heading to Las Vegas.

Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that a matchup between Roxanne Modafferi and Andrea Lee is in the works for the UFC’s event on Sept. 12 in Las Vegas.

Per sources, verbal agreements are in place for the bout with contracts expected to be signed soon.

MMA Junkie was first to report the booking.

Modafferi will look to get back in the win column after dropping a unanimous decision to Lauren Murphy at UFC on ESPN 10 in June. “The Happy Warrior” has flip-flopped wins and losses over six fights, but was able to insert herself into title contention conversations following an impressive decision win over Maycee Barber at January’s UFC 246 event.

Lee also enters the bout with a decision loss to Murphy in her most recent appearance at UFC 247 in February. After three straight victories to begin her octagon tenure, “KGB” has suffered consecutive losses for the first time in her career. Lee dropped a unanimous decision to Joanne Calderwood at UFC 242 this past September in Abu Dhabi in a fight many believed was a flyweight title eliminator.

The UFC’s Sept. 12 event will host the second meeting between the pair of exciting 125ers. Their first meeting took place at Invicta FC 10 in December 2014 where Modafferi handed Lee her first pro loss via split decision.
