Dustin Poirier shows off massively swollen ankle just days removed from battle with Dan Hooker

Dustin Poirier will definitely need a little time to recover from his five round battle with Dan Hooker.

The former interim champion won “Fight of the Night” honors this past Saturday night following a war of attrition with Hooker that saw the lightweights land nearly 400 combined strikes over 25 minutes.

In the aftermath of that fight, Poirier took to Twitter on Wednesday to show off a severely swollen ankle suffered during his win over Hooker at UFC on ESPN 12.

While he looked like he had enough energy to go for another five rounds after the final horn sounded, Poirier did have a noticeable limp as he left the octagon following a unanimous decision win.

Considering the size of his ankle, that explains why he was walking gingerly out of the cage as he celebrated his fifth win out of his past six fights.

There’s no word yet on when Poirier will be cleared to return to action but he’s definitely earned some well-deserved time off after engaging in a memorable fight with Hooker.
