It didn’t take long for Gerald Meerschaert to find a new opponent, as newcomer Anthony Ivy is expected to step in at UFC 250.
Multiple sources confirmed to MMA Fighting on Thursday that Ivy will face Meerschaert following an initial report from Combate. Verbal agreements are in place for the new matchup, but the UFC hasn’t confirmed the replacement yet.
Ivy accepts the fight on just 48 hours’ notice after Ian Heinisch was forced off the card for unknown reasons.
With an 8-2 record, Ivy steps into the fight against Meerschaert on a five-fight winning streak with finishes in all five victories. Ivy has never gone to decision in any of his 10 fights with a mix of knockouts and submissions on his resume.
Assuming the fight is finalized, Meerschaert vs. Ivy joins the preliminary card for UFC 250 on Saturday night from UFC APEX facility in Las Vegas.
