Dana White can’t wait for fans to see “Fight Island.”
On Tuesday, the UFC President shared a first look at the testing procedure and developing infrastructure ahead of UFC 251 on July 11, the promotion’s return to Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. That pay-per-view card marks the first “Fight Island”-branded event, and in the above clip, fans can see how the preparations are coming along.
The short video touts 2004 COVID-19 tests being completed, apparently from June 15-June 24, as well as the level of medical assistance that will be available on the island. Regarding venue, its construction boasts some impressive numbers including 400,000 man hours, 350 tons of metal, and 650,000 square feet (approx. 6,900,000 square feet) of property.
“This is the first look at the testing and infrastructure being built on Fight Island (Yas Island, Abu Dhabi),” White wrote. “This experience is going to so BADASS for my fighters and my staff!!!”
Four events are set to take place on “Fight Island” in July. UFC 251, headlined by a welterweight championship bout between Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns, will be followed by Fight Night events on July 15, July 18, and July 25.
