Dan Hooker’s face may be swollen, but his mind is in a great place following an instant classic on Saturday night.
Hooker was one half of the UFC on ESPN 12 main event against former interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier that will surely be mentioned as one of 2020’s best fights. Poirier edged out a unanimous decision in a grueling 25-minute battle that saw both fighters transported to the hospital in the aftermath.
“The Hangman” was released early Sunday morning and took to Instagram to give an update on his health following an incredible showing in the octagon.
“I got checked out at the hospital. Everything’s all good—just a couple stitches on the eye. But that’s the game we play. No worries, it’s just a small setback and I’ll be back,” Hooker said.
Despite his three-fight winning streak coming to and end in Las Vegas on Saturday night, Hooker’s stock amongst fans and fellow fighters is higher than ever.
