The rivalry between bantamweights Sean O’Malley and Marlon Vera might be closer than ever to materializing in the octagon.
The two were set to meet at UFC 239 in July 2019 before an anti-doping violation took O’Malley’s career in a completely different direction. Vera blasted his would-be opponent and vowed to move on with his career.
Since then, Vera has gone 2-1 in the octagon and recently lost a controversial decision against Yadong Song. O’Malley, meanwhile, added to his highlight reel with stoppages of Jose Quinonez and Eddie Wineland.
O’Malley is angling for a new contract and sparring with a variety of big names at bantamweight. But he’s also down to settle a score, from the looks of it. On Wednesday, he took to social media to offer Vera as his next opponent, prompting a quick response – nay, responses – from “Chito.”

O’Malley could need to work things out with his promoter before taking on his next task. The 25-year-old called to renegotiate his contract before his next fight out and recently shed light on what he said was a very, very bad deal with Reebok over his branded merchandise.
