Former title challenger Anthony Smith is expected to face off with Aleksandar Rakic in a light heavyweight fight on the upcoming UFC card on Aug. 29.
Multiple sources confirmed the matchup to MMA Fighting following an initial report from MMAPlay365.
Smith will look to rebound after suffering a fifth-round TKO loss to Glover Teixeira in his last appearance in May. Overall, Smith has gone 4-2 in his past six fights including wins over Alexander Gustafsson, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Volkan Oezdemir.
Meanwhile, Rakic will be making his return to action after suffering the first loss of his UFC career in Dec. 19 when he fell to Oezdemir by split decision.
Prior to that setback, Rakic had won 12 straight fights with four of those in the UFC including victories over Jimi Manuwa and Devin Clark.
Smith vs. Rakic is expected to join the upcoming UFC card on Aug. 29 that will most likely take place at the APEX facility in Las Vegas with more fights to be announced in the coming weeks.
