A late addition to the UFC on ESPN 12 card has been made as former Invicta FC champion Jinh Yu Frey will face off with Kay Hansen in a strawweight bout on Saturday night.
Multiple sources confirmed the booking to MMA Fighting following an initial announcement from Frey’s manager on Twitter.
Frey will make her octagon debut following a 3-1 run in her past four fights with her only loss coming in RIZIN when she fell to Ayaka Hamasaki by decision. Outside of that setback, Frey has picked up a pair of wins over Minna Grusander as well as a victory against Ashley Cummins in her most recent bout.
As for Hansen, she will make her UFC debut after spending almost her entire fighting career under the Invicta FC banner. The 20-year-old prospect has won her past two fights in a row before signing for the short notice fight on Saturday night.
The addition of Frey vs. Hansen likely comes as a result of former UFC title challenger Sara McMann dropping off the card after her opponent Aspen Ladd suffered a knee injury in training. A suitable replacement couldn’t be found in time and sources confirmed to MMA Fighting on Sunday that McMann would not compete this weekend.
