A “Fight of the Year” candidate between Josh Emmett and Shane Burgos was the unsurprising pick for “Fight of the Night” at UFC on ESPN 11.
The featherweights each took home an extra $50,000 for the three-round slugfest that left the meager audience at UFC APEX cheering. Emmett ultimately emerged with a unanimous decision, overcoming an obviously injured knee to outpoint the game Burgos.
It was Emmett’s second performance bonus and Burgos’ third.
In other bonus winners, 35-fight octagon veteran Jim Miller widened his margin as the top earner of Saturday night with a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus. In a 160-pound catchweight bout, Miller submitted Roosevelt Roberts via first-round armbar for his 21st UFC win and an overall disclosed takehome of $258,000. It was Miller’s 12th performance bonus.
UFC newcomer Justin Jaynes’ decision to fight on three days’ notice paid off handsomely. The first-time octagon combatant starched Frank Camacho in just 41 seconds and took home the second “Performance of the Night” bonus.
