A battle of top-15 featherweights will headline the UFC’s upcoming card on July 15 from “Fight Island” as Calvin Kattar is expected to face off with Dan Ige in the main event.
Multiple sources confirmed the fight to MMA Fighting following an initial report from ESPN.
Ige has made a rapid rise up the featherweight ranks during his current six-fight win streak including a victory over Edson Barboza in his most recent performance.
The Hawaiian also holds wins over Mirsad Bektic, Kevin Aguilar and Jordan Griffin but now he’ll look to make an even bigger statement over an established contender in the 145-pound division.
Kattar makes his return to action following a stunning knockout of Jeremy Stephens at UFC 249 in May. With a 3-1 record over his past four fights, Kattar remains one of the most dangerous featherweights on the roster with four knockouts on his UFC resume in five wins.
Now Kattar will do battle with Ige in a five-round main event on “Fight Island,” which is part of Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. The UFC will be holding four total cards on “Fight Island” with the first show scheduled for July 11 followed by this card on Wednesday, July 15.
