UFC on ESPN 10 weigh-in results: Jessica Eye, Karl Roberson among trio of weight misses

One half of the main and co-main events for Saturday night’s UFC on ESPN 10 card missed weight.

Jessica Eye, who takes on Cynthia Calvillo in the event’s headliner, weighed in at 126.25 pounds, or 0.25 pounds over the 126-pound limit for non-title flyweight bouts. As a result, she forfeited 25 percent of her show purse to Calvillo, per the Nevada Athletic Commission, which oversees the event at UFC APEX.

It’s the second consecutive time Eye has missed weight after she was five pounds over the flyweight limit before a unanimous decision win over Viviane Araujo at UFC 245.

Eye visibly struggled to even step on the scale, and after weighing in said, “I’m done guys. I don’t think I can stand,” according to MMA Fighting’s Jose Youngs, who was on scene in Las Vegas.

Calvillo, meanwhile, made weight at 126 pounds for her UFC flyweight debut.

Co-headliner Karl Roberson missed weight for the second consecutive in his UFC career, coming in at 190.5 pounds, or 4.5 pounds over the non-title middleweight limit, for a rescheduled bout with Marvin Vettori. As a result, he forfeited 30 percent of his purse to Vettori.

Roberson was three pounds heavier than his weigh-in for a first scheduled meeting with Vettori at UFC Jacksonville this past month.

Vettori successfully made weight at 186 pounds.

Additionally, newcomer Zarrukh Adashev missed weight by 2.5 pounds ahead of his bantamweight fight with Tyson Nam. Adashev, who forfeited 20 percent of his purse to Nam, took the booking on just three days’ notice after Ryan Benoit was scratched.

Prior to Eye’s win over Araujo, she was brutally knocked out at UFC 238 by Valentina Shevchenko in a bid to become the women’s flyweight champion. “Evil” joined the flyweight division after dropping four straight bouts at bantamweight, and she picked up three straight wins over Kalindra Faria, Jessica-Rose Clark and Katlyn Chookagian to earn a title shot.

Calvillo moves up to the flyweight division after fighting Marina Rodriguez to a majority draw this past December in a bout where she missed weight by 4.5 pounds. The 32-year-old is unbeaten in her last three fights following a unanimous decision loss to Carla Esparza at UFC 219 in December 2017.

After a submission loss to Glover Teixeira in January 2019, Roberson picked up back-to-back wins in respective bouts against Wellington Turman and Roman Kopylov. The 29-year-old is 4-2 in his UFC tenure after earning a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series.

Vettori bounced back from a decision loss to Israel Adesanya with consecutive wins over Cezar Ferreira and, most recently, Andrew Sanchez.
