A change has been made to Saturday night’s UFC on ESPN 10 card after Ray Borg was forced out of his bantamweight fight against Merab Dvalishvili.
UFC officials announced the news during Thursday’s virtual media day while stating that Borg was pulling out of the fight due to “personal reasons.”
With Borg sidedlined, the UFC has inked newcomer Gustavo Lopez to step in on short notice to face Dvalishvili in a special 140-pound catch weight fight.
Multiple sources confirmed the news to MMA Fighting on Thursday.
Lopez comes to the UFC with an 11-4 record with his most recent fights taking place in Combate Americas. He’s currently riding a three-fight win streak with his last victory coming this past August with a first round knockout over Joey Ruquet.
Lopez will be stepping into the deep end of the UFC’s talent pool for his debut as Dvalishvili is widely considered a top prospect on the roster.
UFC on ESPN 10 will be headlined by a women’s flyweight fight between Jessica Eye and Cynthia Calvillo.
