Molly McCann looks for her fourth straight win when she meets Taila Santos on “Fight Island” next month.
MMA Fighting confirmed with sources that McCann (10-2) will fight Santos (15-1) in a flyweight bout at a Fight Night event at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, following an initial report by MMA reporter Jim Edwards.
After losing in her UFC debut to Gillian Robertson two years ago, McCann is 3-0 with consecutive decision wins over Diana Belbita, Ariane Lipski, and Priscila Cachoeira. The former Cage Warriors flyweight champion has won nine of her last 10 fights.
Santos returns to the octagon for the first time since a split decision loss to Mara Romero Borella in February 2019, her lone UFC appearance to date. The 26-year-old Brazilian saw an August fight booking fall through when opponent Ashlee Evans-Smith bowed out with an injury and then Santos herself suffered the same fate. A match against Robertson that was to take place in June was canceled in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
