Lightweight veterans Clay Guida and Bobby Green will soon face off at the UFC APEX.
MMA Fighting confirmed with sources close to the promotion that a lightweight bout between Guida and Green is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas on June 20. The two were previously booked to meet at UFC 225 in June 2018, but a Green injury led to the cancelation of that fight.
The matchup was first reported by MMA Junkie.
Guida, 38, competed twice in 2019, winning a unanimous decision against B.J. Penn and then losing by technical submission to Jim Miller in August. When he steps into the octagon to fight Green, it will be the 29th UFC appearance for “The Carpenter.” His UFC record stands at 15-13, and his overall pro record is 35-19.
Green (24-10-1) is mired in a 1-5-1 stretch after beginning his UFC career with four straight wins. The 33-year-old is coming off of back-to-back unanimous decision losses to Francisco Trinaldo and Drakkar Klose, with his lone win in the past six years being a unanimous decision win over Erik Koch at UFC on FOX 27.
The June 20 UFC APEX show is scheduled to be headlined by a bout between heavyweight contenders Curtis Blaydes and Alexander Volkov. Broadcast information is still to be announced.
