UFC on ESPN 9 salaries: Tyron Woodley leads all fighters despite not earning win bonus

Former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley didn’t get his win bonus on Saturday night after falling to Gilbert Burns in the main event, but he still walked away with the biggest payday for anybody on the card.

On Monday, the Nevada State Athletic Commission released the salaries with Woodley leading all fighters after banking $200,000 for his fight against Burns.

Woodley stood to make an additional $150,000 for a win bonus but he ultimately lost a lopsided decision over five rounds. Taking home $200,000 still helped Woodley lead all fighter salaries before post-fight bonuses were paid out but it was dramatically less than what he earned in his last title bout.

Woodley took home $500,000 for his fight against Kamaru Usman in March 2019.

As for Burns, he earned $168,000 for his win over Woodley, while also pocketing an extra $50,000 for “Performance of the Night,” as he locked up his biggest win since he started his climb up the welterweight ranks.

Burns has rattled off four straight wins in the division including back-to-back victories over Woodley and Demian Maia.

Elsewhere on the card, former title challenger Katlyn Chookagian earned $120,000 for her dominant win over Antonina Shevchenko while Augusto Sakai made $100,000 for his victory against Blagoy Ivanov in the co-main event. Those were the only other fighters to earn six-figures prior to post fight bonuses being paid out.
