This is the UFC 249 live blog for Henry Cejudo vs. Dominick Cruz, the bantamweight title co-headliner for Saturday’s fight card at VyStar Veteran’s Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla.

Cejudo attempts the first defense of his bantamweight title while Cruz tries to recapture the title he once held in his first fight in nearly four years.

Round 1: Keith Peterson is the third man in the cage for this bantamweight title fight. Cruz comes out with his trademark movement and Cejudo is in the center of the cage. Heavy leg kick early from Cejudo. And another. 90 seconds in and Cruz hasn’t accomplished much but Cejudo has landed a number of good leg kicks. It’s clear that is a strategy for the champion. Cejudo slips on a leg kick but scrambles up before Cruz can get on top. Cruz lands a jab, his first clean strike of the bout. Cruz steps in with a knee that lands but Cejudo hits a big takedown. A scramble ensues and Cejudo lands another heavy leg kick. Nice uppercut from Cruz who seems to maybe be settling in some. Surging combination from the champion partially scores. Another leg kick from Cejudo and now Crua is the one coming forward. Another leg kick. Cruz lands a combo of his own but seems to be struggling with the speed of the champion. The round ends without much else happening.

Round 2: Something to keep an eye on is that Cejudo has sold out on sprawls to stop Cruz’s shot attempts. If Cruz feints a takedown, could create some openings. Cruz opens round two with more activity and a ton of movement. Cejudo back to work with the leg kicks but also lands a body kick that’s good. Cruz lands a good combination but Cejudo is back to work on the legs. Cruz seems a little lost in there. Then he lands a nice one-two but thre’s not enough volume and he’s not hurting Cejudo whatsoever. Cejudo bullies forward and forces a clinch but Cruz separates. Big punches for Cejudo that may have stunned Cruz momentarily. hey exchange low kicks. Cejudo is doing a pretty good job of corralling Cruz but Cruz is now landing more punches and Cejudo is biting on feints. A clash of heads opens up a cut on Cejudo but after a brief doctor stoppage, the fight resumes. A huge knee from Cejudo lands as Cruaz ducks and Cruz is in trouble! Cejudo storms forward and is landing punches with only seconds to go. Cruz is trying to stand up but can’t and he’s taking punches and the referee steps in!
