Gesias Cavalcante vs. Raush Manfio combat grappling bout headlines Titan FC 60

Gesias Cavalcante

The UFC will not be the only promotion putting on a combat sports event in the month of May.

Titan Fighting Championship officials confirmed to MMA Fighting that Titan FC 60 will take place on May 29. The event, according to the promotion, emanates from Florida but “will be held at a yet undisclosed location with no fans in attendance,” and stream on UFC Fight Pass.

Headlining Titan FC 60 will be a combat grappling bout between Strikeforce veteran Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante and Raush Manfio.

Last month, the offices of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis deemed professional sports as “essential” as long as guidelines are adhered to amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The UFC will be hosting three events in an eight day span in Jacksonville beginning this Saturday with UFC 249.

Titan FC COO Lex McMahon says the organization will put a strong emphasis on the health and safety of everyone involved during this uncertain time in the world.

“While we are excited to return to competition, we have worked hard to ensure the safety of our athletes, staff, and commission officials that will be working the event,” McMahon said. “We have worked on developing our safety plan with the Florida Boxing Commission, State, and local governments. The key components of our plan are: 1) limited numbers in venue, 2) testing, 3) practical social distancing, & 4) emphasis on sanitation.”

In addition to the main event grappling match, there will be five MMA fights. In the co-main event, Rami Hamed returns to Titan FC after a three-fight stint in Brave CF to face Frank Carillo—who returns to competition for the first time since a first-round KO loss to now UFC welterweight Mike Perry in March 2016.

The card will also include former promotional bantamweight title challenger Danny Sabatello who looks to bounce back from his fourth-round TKO loss at Titan FC 58 in December when he faces the surging Raymond Ramos.

Here is how the Titan FC 60 fight card currently stands:

  • Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante vs. Raush Manfio - Combat grappling match
  • Ramy Hamed vs. Frank Carrillo
  • Danny Sabatello vs. Raymond Ramos
  • Kendly St. Louis vs. Mike Lilly
  • Sal Guerierro vs. Dany Gonzalez
  • Gustavo Villamil vs. TBD
