The coronavirus pandemic continues to affect the UFC’s 2020 schedule.
Due to restrictions on public gatherings as a result of COVID-19 precautions, the UFC officially announced Thursday that the June 20 event in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and the June 27 event in Austin, Texas, have officially been canceled.
This announcement was a formality given that sports in North America and across much of the world have been shut down to slow the spread of the coronavirus. The UFC only recently returned to action after canceling multiple events in March and April, holding three events in eight days this past week in Jacksonville, Fla.
Currently, the plan is for the UFC’s May 30 Fight Night event to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, though that is still pending approval from the Nevada State Athletic Commission, which will address the matter at a meeting on May 27.
Several bouts are reported to be in the works for the June 20 and June 27 events, including Josh Emmett vs. Shane Burgos and Roxanne Modafferi vs. Lauren Murphy for June 20, and Aspen Ladd vs. Sara McMann for June 27. A new location is pending for those matchups should they proceed on the scheduled dates.
